Photographer Brings Woman’s Photo Shoot Dream to Lifehttp://www.picturecorrect.com/tips/photographer-brings-womans-photo-shoot-dream-to-life/ Benjamin Von Wong is a busy photographer. His schedule is packed with fantastical photo shoots and highly sought-after workshops. So when his agent received a curious email in September, he wasn’t sure what to do. He didn’t have much time, but he couldn’t say no to the sender’s shy request: The email was from Nicole […] via Read more […]

Ha ha. Just looked at the Microsoft website attacking Gmail, and promoting Outlook.com. Apparently I am supposed to be concerned about the unpaid service of Gmail having a robot reading my emails (in and out) to try to target me with adverts that actually might interest me. I guess I'm not supposed to be bothered about the more demand based advertising Microsoft do on the likes of Facebook (which they invested in as part of a deal to win advertising business on Facebook) which uses much more Read more […]

Fastmail independent again (bought back from Opera by original developers). +FastMail is the best email service available in my view. It is based in Australia which has very different privacy laws to, say, USA, and I think those laws are better than most. It does cost money but not a lot and there is no advertising, no selling of my details, no data mining. They also offer full domain name management (edit your zone records if you want). There is spam filtering and reporting (all optional) and you Read more […]

I was a big fan of Posterous and disappointed to see its demise announced at the hands of Twitter but fortunately a couple of the founders have created a new service, called Posthaven, that they promise will match the best of the Posterous features. They are still adding features at the moment and the two I am awaiting are:1. Post by email. You could send pretty much anything to Posterous (formatted/unformatted text, video, audio, documents, etc) and it figured out how to usefully convert and present Read more […]

Welcome to Google+, +Mike Moore glad you have finally made it. Very different to Facebook and Twitter.Facebook is more about connecting to people you already know. Family and friends. They may not have much to say of interest to you.Google+ is more about connecting with people who share your interests and you may well become friends with them.At first, you will not see much. You have to identify people who are talking about things that interest you. You can search for people by name or, more usefully, Read more […]

GMAIL is bouncing ALL of my emails from both my personal account and a google apps account on both my computer and an Android phone. I think Google are having problems again. I get an error message whatever address I send to that says:Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:     <any email address I have tried to send to today>Technical details of permanent failure:Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the Read more […]

Cloud computing discussion on facebook

A few weeks ago, I got into a discussion about cloud computing from an unusual angle. I posted a link advising people to secure 25GB of storage on the Microsoft SkyDrive before they reduced it to 7GB. A friend of one of my friends commented that he did not trust the cloud, hadn’t got into it yet especially for backing up. So I provided some more information to him, which I thought worth sharing here (with a few edits to make it easier to read). I guess you are specifically talking about personal Read more […]

Oedipussy

http://www.spymonkey.co.uk/oedipussy/Saw a magnificent performance at the Curve studio theatre in Leicester last night and was blown away. Just four actors in the cast and the fourth wall blown away at regular intervals as they stepped in and out of primary characters and interacted with the audience and yet still managed to draw us into incredibly emotional story moments. Supremely talented, brilliantly presented, very entertaining and compelling. Recommended. The kind of live theatre treat that Read more […]

Loss of a laptop

There is a widely accepted principle that Men (or more specifically, male brained humans) are poor at multi-tasking. It seems this applies when repacking after going through airport security scanners where I was trying to, put my shoes back on, rethread my belt, recover things from coat/jacket pockets to trousers, put laptop back in cabin luggage, talk to someone on my phone and given them some information i looked up on the phone. On getting home last Thursday evening, I opened by cabin bag to discover Read more […]
