I changed the cover photo on my profile recently to this one of a narrow boat exiting a lock. Travelling the man made waterways of the UK is one of my favourite pass times.Typically, I hire a boat for the family and friends for a week and do a circuit of some kind that takes in both city and countryside worlds. Had a great day yesterday, enjoying a long tour through tunnels and locks on canals around Dudley with the Dudley Canal Trust, followed by a meal at Mad O’Rourke’s famous pie factory (pub). and then a drink at The Crooked House. We took the unusual step this Christmas (2008) of hiring a narrow-boat for the week and navigating the canals of England whilst everyone else faced the normal stresses of the celebration period. We had a great time away from the hussle-and-bussle that normally goes with this period.
