No deal on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Nearly bought a Note 4 today. I have a Note 3 and had a scratch to itch, but fortunately, none of the stores I visited in Telford could offer me a deal I found attractive. Actually, I’d prefer a Note 4 Edge, but they are even more expensive and I expect will not be well supported. Carphone Warehouse wanted £600 for an unlocked sim free Note 4. Phew! They still wanted that much after I told them about the EE deal. Vodafone were pretty clear they do not sell their phones outright unlocked. EE do Read more […]

Back to old style Mercedes

I have just bought a 1993 Mercedes S-Class LWB S500 W140, with 85,000 miles on the clock. Cost me £2800 ($4372). It was a joy to look out of my bedroom window the following morning and see it sat at the back of the rest of the family vehicles. A great trick of perspective makes it look smaller than the other cars, until you start to adjust and notice its size against the large double garage I parked it next to. This is my second W140. I had a later model SWB S280 around 10 years ago that I Read more […]

If you use free wifi in Costa Coffee etc on your phone/tablet your Facebook login details can be captured easily (as can login details for many other services) even when apps and browsers are using encryption (https and the like). That is unless you use VPN software.I use Hide My Ass, a UK based service with servers all around the world (handy for watching video streaming services in other countries) and have provided a referrer link below. They are subject to UK laws and will provide information Read more […]

It is striking that Evan Williams, one of the founders of Twitter, does not let his young children use iPads and the like. He believes that they should learn to appreciate printed books, socialise in person, and avoid the over stimulation that the displays cause. This is partly mentioned towards the end of the book about the creation of Twitter. A story that, frankly, leaves me amazed that Twitter survived through to IPO.Hatching Twitter by Nick Bilton http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CTMAAKW/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_NOhJsb1YFQ8G1 Read more […]

My fibre internet connection is down at the moment.Fortunately, I have a Three sim in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Note ii) with an unlimited data plan and tethering. Even though I have it in a modest signal area in the house, it is providing me with internet access that I would have been delighted with just a few years ago on my hard wired connection. This is not a 4G service – still rare in the UK – but is perfectly useful for most day-to-day internet activities outside of the streaming world. Not Read more […]

Access to porn over the Internet is very easy and many children will access it. The failure in UK society at least is with parents who are two ways uptight to properly educate and prepare their kids well before they become at all interested in the porn imagery. My two daughters are now in their early twenties. They were raised so they had an awareness and appreciation of sex from a very young age (neither of them recall not knowing) and thanks to my IT background (which also gave them full Internet Read more […]

Be More DogHave to say, very impressed by O2 (UK cell/network provider) and their advertising campaign encouraging us all to be more like a dog and amazed by the World instead of acting disinterested like a cat. Like all the best advertising, they are making a good point. The video of a cat acting like a dog is very funny. #bemoredog O2 – Be more dog via Public RSS-Feed of Stuart Moore.
